›› A History to Match the Reputation

EDUCATION
Dr. Burres attended the University of Chicago for his undergraduate training, where he majored in biochemistry, and graduated at age 20, Dr. Burres then attended the University of Chicago-Prit2ker School of Medicine, which is typically ranked within the top ten medical schools in the United States by other medical school deans.

Following medical school, Dr. Burres did his surgical internship and basic otolaryngology training at Wayne State University Hospitals in Michigan.

FELLOWSHIPS
Beyond his specialty training, Dr. Burres is one of the few surgeons to have done two fellowships- one in otology and a second in facial plastic surgery.
His first fellowship was at the University of Zurich in Switzerland under the guidance of an internationally reknowned professor, Ugo Fisch. The University of Zurich is a major referral center for problems in hearing, tumors of the ear, dizziness, the facial nerve, and diseases of the skull base.

Afterwards, he studied facial plastic surgery at Stanford University with the President of the American Academy of Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Richard Goods. During that period, Dr. Burres was at Stanford faculty member, teaching facial plastics and other types of head and neck surgery.

AWARDS
Dr. Burres received two major research awards during his years of training.

While in medical school, Dr. Burres received the Franklin McClein Research Award for best research by a medical student. His investigations related to the treatment of myasthenia gravis, a nerve and muscle problem.

Later, during his fellowship in Zurich, Dr. Burres won the first place award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology for his clinical research on facial biomechanics.

BOARD CERTIFICATION
Dr. Burres is one of the few physicians in the United States to be board certified by three different boards.

(1) American Board of otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. His written exam score was so high that the oral exam was not required.

(2) American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

(3)American Board of Cosmetic Surgery

PRACTICE
Dr. Burres has been in private practice in Los Angeles for 13 years since completion of his fellowships. He has, at various times, maintained clinical appointments at such prestigious hospitals as Cedars-Sinai, UCLA Hospital, Century City Hospital, and Centinela Hospital. He is presently a member of the attending staff at Cedars-Sinai and Centinela Hospitals.

Dr. Burres's office practice includes on all types of facial plastic problems, as well as certain basic ear, nose and throat problems. He has performed thousands of surgeries related to hair, wrinkle, nose, ear, sinus, eyelid, lip, chin and cheek, and body fat cosmetic problems, Furthermore, he has expertise in the management of nasal airway and sinus problems, snoring, and tonsil and adenoid problems, and many other problems. He has performed various types of laser surgery for 15 years. During your consultation he will gladly discuss his experience and particular areas of skill.

PRESENTATIONS
Over the past 15 years, Dr. Burres has presented at many international meetings and events, and has chaired presentations on different topics involving facial plastic surgery and ear, nose and throat topics. Most recently, he presented at the World Congress on Skin Rejuvenation in 1996 and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in 1997.
