›› Liposuction

Dr. Burres is very experienced at liposuction and has been doing it for about ten years. Liposuction is generally a very safe and effective procedure. We generally do liposuction as an office procedure using a technique known as tumescent anesthesia. With the use of tumescent liposuction, mostly pure fat is removed with minimal bleeding. Recovery is fast and bruising is relatively minor. When the tumescent fluids are used, the procedure is routinely done under local anesthesia or with a twilight type of sedation, although general anesthesia is also available in our office. Liposuction may be done in addition to other surgical procedures. The procedure usually takes a few hours and the recovery is usually veryfast. Patients are usually resuming routine activities in the next day or two. They must wear a binder underneath their clothing for two or three weeks after the procedure.

Remember, liposuction is not a replacement for a good diet and exercise.
